COSTING TABLES

This Netwiz Technical Support Note has been sent to announce that the number tables for the new costing system (MonTel 2.10 and 2.11 onwards) have been updated. The numbers have the complete set of national districts zones and precincts downloaded from Telstra on May 9th. The Telstra document was last updated on 2005-04-24. It also contains the latest ACA mobile phone allocations as of the May 10th. There have been some other minor changes, moving most of the 124 and 125 range into the MAX2 category. (In a future edition MAX2 will be replaced with OPERATOR as the type of call).

As well as needing an update, this latest set of files corrects a problem where some (perhaps 0.2%) of the geographic charge points did not import correctly, resulting in very occasional inaccuracies for some destinations in all tables.

This alert was raised last week where the location of client in country Victoria was one of the locations that did not import directly, and the resulting charge point of 0 E,0 S put it west of the Congo in the Atlantic Ocean making all the destination were wrong! As well a some number files for South Australia generated last month created inaccurate charge locations because a compatibility problem with the utility used for the table generation.

As far as I can tell there are no longer any errors in the charge points. I recommend that all clients update to the latest number file for their prefix. The number files can be downloaded (as zip files) from http://www.netwiz.com.au/customer.html (navigate through "software for Netwiz MonTel customers", and select the appropriate file matching the prefix of your telephone number from the section labelled "Number Zip file".

Despite the issues raised above I want to stress the accuracy of the MonTel Costing tables. Netwiz can generate a number file for ANY location in Australia, which given an accurate rate table, and duration of the phone call will be able to generate a very reliable and accurate cost. Of course PABX's do NOT get an accurate duration of call from the exchange because they generally cannot tell when or even if a call is answered, so in most cases MonTel can only provide an estimation. But nevertheless a very good estimation of the cost of the call.

Note that updates are free to customers who are up to date with current maintenance payments.

MONTEL 2.10.16

The EdIni32 help file is partly corrupt. A replacement file is available on request (email support@netwiz.com.au). This will be fixed in 2.10.17.

The current MonTel release is version 2.10.16. Please note that MonTel includes web reports. You will need to set up SQLSERSV.EXE to use them. For more information see http://www.netwiz.com.au/appnotes/i4142.htm.
