2005-04-01 Netwiz Beta Testers

MonTel is currently pretty stable at version 2.10.16, with Server Service
proving to be both stable and popular.

The next phase of development is to slowly convert the client side from VB with
the inherent reliability and DLL related problems to a monolithic (meaning one
single) executable written in Microsoft Visual C. The first application will
be a service version of Monex32.exe, called Monexsv.exe. The first look at
this won't be for a few months yet.

However, in the mean time all of the existing 'c' applications have been
converted to Visual C from Borland 'C' 5.02, with some extra tweaking and
refactoring, which mean that once the bugs if any are ironed out, it may well
be faster and even more reliable. It is already marginally smaller.

This code is now available as Version 2.11 on the web site in the usual place.
http://www.netwiz.com.au/secure/montel32_v2_11.html.

MonTel 2.11.0 may well be just as reliable as 2.10.x, however, I need this to
be tested before we deploy it to client sites. I would be keen for beta
testers and Monitor offices to use this in house to shake out any bugs and
issues.

This release is called Alpha, because it is not yet feature complete. However,
functionally it should be identical to 2.10.

I have tested it to the point where I can't see any errors on Windows 2000
computers, though I have not exhaustively tested it, not tested it on other
platforms. The client is still a VB6 application.

Please down-load and use it, and let me know how you go.
