Using the MonTel Master Install Wizard on a NEW MonTel installation.

Topic Created: 2008-04-17

Pre-installation

In this example walk through installation a number of assumptions are made:

1) You have made the decisions set out in the implementation guide.

2) You have a MonTel license key supplied in a LICENSE.INI file. (For version 2.12.2 and later).

3) You have Administrator privileges to the Network File server area to which the MonTel Application and Data files will be stored, and you have local and network administrator privilege to the local machine which will also be the MonTel Server connected to the PABX. It would be expected that the Network Server and the MonTel server are not the same machine. It is also expected that normal users will be able to have read only access to the MonTel Application area on the File Server and read and write access to their personal data area on the Network server.

4) That you understand the layout of MonTel on the network, and have a structure in mind for the location of, the MonTel Application folder which is visible and readable by all users, and writeable by MonTel Administrators. The MonTel Data folder, which is visible and readable to MonTel Administrators and MonTel receptionists, and write able by the the MonTel Server, and the MonTel users folders, which may be the personal folder of the users or a separate area on the File server. In all cases the entire folder or area must be writeable by the MonTel server (and readable and writeable for the appropriate user).

5) There are no existing MonTel files in the MonTel Application folder. If there are (and especially if the PABX.INI file is present) then the Set up wizard may select to perform an upgrade rather than a new install.

Download.

From the on line down load pages down load from the 'Application collection' the MonTel setup program (or the MonTel Master Install Wizard) montel_2_12_xx.exe where xx is the release number. Also, download any costing files as directed. Do not unzip any of the files. Place all the files into one folder on the local computer, which we are assuming here is the MonTel Server. Is is not a requirement that the installation be performed from the MonTel Server PC, however some setting will need to be changed, and the MonTel server accessed later in any event to install the MonTel Server program (ServerSV.exe).

Running the MonTel Master Install Wizard (SetupMT)

From the local folder on the computer on which you a use MonTel to install to the network run the the MonTel setup program which will unzip SetupMT and the support files into a temporary folder below the one you are running it from.

Initialising the setup wizard

Stepping through the Setup Wizard.

MonTel Water Mark

You can now step through each stage of the wizard which takes you through the basics of configuring a MonTel installation.
