Edit Department Details

The Departments form allows you to add, Delete and Insert Department Codes, and more importantly alter the department name, that will appear instead of the code if you have Display Department Name checked.

You can also select the Default Department - which will set all users who have specific department to this default.

Use Department code as name

This is not an option or an element stored in the PABX.INI file

It is used in EdIni and EdUser to alter the contents of the Name part of an entry in the list of items in the Departments entry.

If checked it will make the name part the same as the key part. For example if the "code" or key name was TAX, then after this is checked the name part will also be "TAX" rather than, say, "Taxation".

You cannot un check this value. However, you can edit the entry or name part. When this changes to something other than equal to the key, then the check box is automatically de-selected.

Department Key

Part of the Department setting Used by: Client, Server.

Example:

Departments = "AUDIT", "TAX", "INS"

This is the Code or key name part of an entry in the Departments list. In this example TAX is highlighted as a Department Key, though "AUDIT" and "INS" are also department keys.

Department Name

Part of the (DEPT CODE).Name setting Used by: Client, Server.

Example:

AUDIT.Name = "Audit Department"

Each of these entries are the full names for each department. The format for the key is DEPTCODE.Name, where the department code is separated from "Name" by a full stop. You can have up to 16 different departments.

The Department name is the text part of an entry. So, for example, if the Department key or code was AUDIT, then the Department name entry will be "Audit Department".
